Egypt’s Dar al-Ifta: Terrorist attacks around the world prove that terrorism has no religion or homeland.
The Grand Mufti of Egypt, Dr. Shawqi Allam, addressed the international media on the Paris attacks and its ramifications. More than fifty news websites, news agencies and international newspapers topped by Reuters and The Huffington Post, as well as Italian, Dutch and German news agencies are publishing articles by Dr. Shawqi, highlighting his statements about terrorism and countering Islamophobia.
Dr. Shawqi said that the terrorist groups flagrantly use religion as a cloak to cover up for their criminal action. He continued, “We need to know the factors that lead the youth towards extremism; otherwise, we run the risk of never being able to properly address and completely eradicate this plague.” He also said that the latest terrorist attacks in different places around the world prove that terrorism knows no religion or homeland.
Dr. Shawqi expressed his concern over the exploitation of the reckless emotions of fanatical groups in Europe who put all the blame on Islam, consequently harming Muslims living there. “It is important to stand together and address the causes behind this sad incident in a way that is both fair and just,” he said.
