The grand Mufti of Egypt, Dr. Shawqi 'Allam strongly condemned the attack on al-Warraq church which left 3 dead and 9 wounded.
In a press release, the grand Mufti stated that attacking churches whether by demolishing, bombing, murdering or terrifying the worshippers are from among the prohibited matters which are aberrant from the tolerant teachings of shari'ah. Rather, this is considered an aggression against the protection granted by Allah and His Messenger to non-Muslims and the perpetrator subjects himself to adversity with the Prophet (peace be upon him) on the Day of Judgment.
The grand Mufti called upon all Egyptians, Muslims and Christians, to help one another to eradicate such strife and block the way before the mob who work on instigating division among Egyptians.
