Is prayer nullified by extraneous thoughts?

Prayer is not nullified by extraneous thoughts provided all of its pillars and conditions are met. However, its reward decreases significantly in the absence of reverence since a praying person is rewarded according to his/her presence of heart and mind during prayer.
And God the Almighty knows best.
