What is the ruling on praying behind an undesirable imam?

It is permissible to pray behind an imam who is undesirable due to committing religious violations though it is disliked for such an imam to lead prayers. Still, if most of the group dislike him due to a personal or worldly matter, then such an argument does not hold water.
